Gilda Burke

Our founder, Gilda Burke, is a self taught baker and cake artist. She is also an ex-bakery owner. Through the bakery, her recipes have been enjoyed by thousands and are especially delicious. She was also fortunate enough to be chosen to appear on Food Network twice with rave reviews from the judges.

Not only was she lucky enough to be chosen to go on Food Network’s Cake Wars and The Big Bake but she was also chosen to go to the first ever, HSN American Dreams Academy.

The idea for Scratch Baking Company Cake kits and mixes was hatched when she realized that there was a need in the market for simply scratch cake mixes and she already had tried and true recipes. She wanted to bring the joy of scratch baking to the masses without all the muss and fuss it can sometimes bring along with it. Her idea was simple. Make a from scratch cake mix in a pouch with measured out ingredients and videos to remove, the sometimes overwhelming, doubts and help people create a delicious cake/cupcake and decorate it like a professional.

Our mission is to create wonderful experiences by providing delicious custom cakes/desserts and making scratch baking more accessible and fun!
