Gilda Burke is a self-taught baker and talented cake artist who has nurtured her passion for baking over the years. As a devoted mother of two and wife to one of NYC’s Bravest, she does her best to balance family life with her creative pursuits. Gilda has been baking and decorating beautifully crafted cakes since 2011 and has proudly owned two successful bakery shops. Her remarkable skills and creativity have earned her features on prestigious platforms such as Food Network’s Cake Wars and The Big Bake. Not only was she fortunate enough to be selected for these competitive shows, but she also had the incredible opportunity to attend the very first HSN American Dreams Academy.

The innovative idea for Scratch Baking Company mixes was born when she recognized a clear need in the market for straightforward scratch cake mixes. Gilda already possessed a collection of tried-and-true recipes that have been enjoyed and celebrated by thousands of delighted clients over the years. With a desire to bring the joy of scratch baking to the masses, she aimed to eliminate the mess and fuss that can sometimes accompany the baking process. Her vision was simple yet impactful: create a high-quality from-scratch cake mix packaged in a reusable pouch with precisely measured ingredients, accompanied by helpful instructional YouTube videos to alleviate the overwhelming doubts that many budding bakers face. This supportive approach allows anyone to create a delicious cake or cupcake while also gaining the confidence to decorate their treats like a true professional. Our mission at Scratch Baking Company is to cultivate wonderful experiences by providing delicious custom cakes and desserts, ultimately making scratch baking more accessible, enjoyable, and fun for everyone!
